A bit of history
Brownies are known as a classic American dessert and one of the most lovable baked treats. Brownies were first introduced two hundred years ago by a renowned Chicago confectioner at the historic Palmer House Hotel. The first recipes for brownies were actually missing chocolate, instead of which molasses was added to the dough. Also, the dessert was usually topped with sticky apricot glaze.
Today, there are many variants of this popular dessert. You can choose whether you prefer fudgy, cakey, or fluffy brownies. After baking, it's great to sprinkle the dessert with powdered sugar or pour icing over it. The taste of brownies is perfectly complemented by whipped cream, a scoop of quality ice cream, or fruit stock. In North America, this dessert is traditionally combined with a glass of milk.
